Romantic Blush and Plum Wedding Styling at Saltmarshe Hall | Danielle & Dave
When Danielle first got in touch with me about styling her wedding at Saltmarshe Hall, she was inspired by the bold, luxurious feel of Dolce & Gabbana. Think blush pinks, deep plums, burgundy shades and plenty of candlelight.
As the months went by, her ideas evolved, and I worked closely with the amazing Becky at Ivy Lane Floral Studio to make sure the styling and florals felt cohesive and equally amazing.
One of the biggest misconceptions couples have before getting in touch with me is that they need to have every styling decision made before they book a call, or even before they book me as their stylist.
In reality, my job is to help refine ideas, edit where needed and work through any changes along the way.
For Danielle and Dave, that meant working closely with Becky and I to develop a colour palette that felt balanced, luxurious and completely their vibe. Every decision we made was with the overall look and feel in mind, and I think we pulled it off perfectly!
An Indoor Summer Ceremony
One of the biggest decisions we made during the planning process was to hold the ceremony inside Saltmarshe Hall.
Although the walled gardens are stunning, the incredible floral arch Becky was creating was the most important part of Danielle’s day. Because of its size and weight, moving it between locations simply wasn’t practical.
The arch created the most incredible backdrop as our lovely bride and groom exchanged their vows, with their little girl peering through the middle of them, making for the cutest photos ever!
It’s a great reminder that choosing an indoor ceremony isn’t settling for second best. At a venue like Saltmarshe Hall, the interiors are every bit as beautiful as the gardens (and it saves your guests from sweltering in the sun – words I never thought I would say living in the UK!)
The Room Transformation
Once the ceremony had finished, we transformed the room ready for the wedding breakfast.
Danielle had always loved the idea of blush pink table linen, and it became the starting point for the reception styling. The soft pinks paired with the plum tapered candles and florals created a romantic colour palette that felt understated but still elegant – exactly what I’m all about.
If you’ve followed my work for a while, you’ll know I’m obsessed with candlelight. Using tapered candles to pull in the colour palette and elevate the tables is always one of my favourite things to do.
A Beautiful Venue
Saltmarshe Hall is one of those Yorkshire wedding venues that offers so much variety. The elegant interiors, wonderful staircase and stunning gardens all provide beautiful backdrops throughout the day, whatever the weather decides to do.
One of my favourite moments looking back through the amazing photos by Lucy Dennis Photography was seeing the mini bridesmaids coming down the stairs.
The staircase is such an iconic feature of the venue, and Lucy captured the full day so beautifully. Those images are some of my favourites.
Finalising the Details
Looking back, Danielle and Dave’s wedding is the perfect example of why wedding styling is about so much more than pretty decor.
It’s about talking through idea after idea, chatting through the confusion and going back and forth until everything feels cohesive and personal to you.
I always say that one size doesn’t fit all. Styling is so personal, and while using inspiration from Instagram or Pinterest is helpful, there’s much more to creating a design that actually works for you and your venue.
Working collaboratively with Becky from Ivy Lane from the early stages of planning meant that we could create a design that flowed seamlessly from the ceremony through to the wedding breakfast, and ultimately create a wedding that felt beautiful, considered and completely personal to Danielle and Dave.
